The Plough Inn Powburn, Alnwick
Journey to Powburn near Alnwick in Northumberland, and you will come across the delightful traditional country pub called The Plough Inn. This charming grade II listed village pub has character in bucket loads, plenty of space to park, and a great beer garden outside.
Families with children, and dogs, are always welcome, and there is a great play area for kids in the garden, perfect for fine weather. For less clement weather there is also a pool table.
Inside you will find the atmosphere convivial and warming, with good humoured and affable staff, and plenty of good home cooked food to satisfy you. Settle yourself in front of the roaring open fire, and relax with a cool drink and some great food.
You can always tell a place is good when the locals eat there, and The Plough certainly has a lot of local fans. Their food is all home made from the best local ingredients, wholesome and healthy: It really is a pleasure to eat their famously good lasagne, and you can be sure that no one ever leaves feeling less than full, and deliciously satisfied!
You can enjoy a great ale and your food in the bar, or retire to the dining area if you wish. There is a children's menu available, with portions that are just right for smaller tummies, and there are even plenty of vegetarian options as well. Sunday lunches are always appreciated by all The Ploughs customers, and have a fine selection of roast meats to choose from.
The plough is very easy to get to, and lies within close proximity to the local attractions of Alnwick Castle, where Harry Potter was filmed, and Alnwick Garden, which has the largest tree house in Europe.
Other local places of interest include the holy Island of Lindisfarne, Bamburgh Castle, and Berwick-upon-Tweed, which has superb trout and salmon fishing on the river Tweed, plus there are fantastic local golf courses.
The Plough Inn has disabled access for it's less mobile customers, and welcomes coach parties.
